Express APR Design® Training

A high-level overview of the recycling process for broad audiences.

What Does a Typical Express Training Package Include?

The Express Training program provides employees with a general overview of plastics recycling. The training session is designed to appeal to a broad audience and typically lasts one to two hours. Our training can be delivered in-person or virtually and can accommodate as many attendees as you like (past sessions have ranged from five to 300+ attendees).

Topics may include:

  • Common misconceptions of plastic recycling, including:
    • What happened with China and the export market?
    • Are recyclables just thrown in with the same truck as the garbage?
    • What is the “recycling code” that I’ve heard of?
    • Is recycled material inferior?
  • The basics of the recycling process from collection to remanufacturing
  • APR’s definition of plastics recyclability
  • The importance of package design and how to use the APR Design® Guide

Who Leads the Trainings?

Curt Cozart is Chief Operating Officer at APR, as well as president and owner of Common Sense Solutions, Inc. a consulting company specializing in plastics recycling plant design, project management, and operations. He has worked in the plastics recycling industry since 1991 when, as a project manager for Mobil Chemical Company, he built the first North American film recycling plant dedicated to LLDPE stretch film. Since that time, he has participated in the construction and operation of much of the North American PET, HDPE and film recycling industry. Curt holds a BS in mechanical engineering from The United States Military Academy at West Point.
