Responsible Innovation Path

What is the Responsible Innovation Path?

APR Design Recognition through the Responsible Innovation Path provides third-party recognition for design features that cannot be evaluated by lab-scale testing, but have achieved alternate testing and review as specified in the APR Design® Guide. If you’re ready to apply, you can submit a pre-approval application.

What are the requirements to apply for recognition through the Responsible Innovation Path?

The innovation must be compatible with the clear, rigid PET; EBM HDPE; rigid PP; or flexible PE recycling stream as determined by trials and testimonials from MRFs and reclaimers that the innovation is not problematic.

What is the application process?

Recognition through the Responsible Innovation Path generally takes 2-3 months to complete, and consists of a pre-approval, third-party testing, a webinar presentation to membership, and a Technical Panel Review.
