Pause on bag law is a hit to some recyclers
California’s single-use bag ban has been suspended for two months, with the governor citing coronavirus safety concerns. One plastics reclaimer said the move led to an immediate drop in PCR sales.
Reusable plastic bags allowed under the law are required to include at least 40% recycled plastic. The suspension quickly hit film recycling operations that supply California with post-consumer resin.
