Data Corner: Quantifying environmental impacts of virgin and recycled resin

In addition to reducing waste, recycling offers significant energy savings and avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions. When comparing mechanically recycled plastic to virgin plastic, recycled PET, HDPE and PP offer a dramatic reduction in carbon emissions and energy production. The graphs in the article are based on data presented in the 2018 Association of Plastic Recyclers report "Life Cycle Impacts for Postconsumer Recycled Resins: PET, HDPE, and PP."
