The Association of Plastic Recyclers

Is Your Packaging Circular by Design? APR is Your Connection to the Circular Economy.

As the Voice of Plastics Recycling®, the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) envisions a world with a circular economy for plastic goods - a world in which companies manufacture recyclable products and consumers buy products made from recycled materials.

The APR Design® Guide for Plastics Recyclability helps companies ensure their packaging is recyclable, and the APR PCR Certification Program helps companies ensure they are putting that recycled material back to work in the form of post-consumer resin (PCR).

While this short video illustrates APR's commitment to helping companies create products that are compatible with today's recycling infrastructure, the APR PCR Certification Program was designed to be an important complement to the APR Design® Guide, together enabling companies to be truly Circular by Design™.

Why is certification important? The production and consumption of recycled content in the form of PCR is a key step in the circular economy. The APR PCR Certification program provides transparency to support a reliable, robust PCR market—for reclaimers, brand companies and converters. In addition to taking a leadership role in reducing plastic waste, companies that buy or sell Certified PCR are preparing for upcoming regulation and ensuring protection against reputational and legal challenges.

We all play an important role in the world of plastics recycling, and with the right tools we can work together to make the circular economy a reality.

But it takes ALL of us. Brand companies and converters can take the simple step to ask for certified PCR. Reclaimers can act now and get APR PCR Certified.

Tomorrow starts today. Are you ready?
