2020 Plastics Recycling Showcase: Don’t miss these game-changing innovations

Published on February 7, 2020

Today, plastics recyclers are shouldering the burden of an increasingly complex waste stream. In the face of this enormous undertaking, innovations in recycling technology and packaging design are driving growth, sustainability, and profitability in our industry.

This year at the annual APR Technical Forum and Recycling Showcase, we are pleased to announce several notable innovations in the plastics recycling industry that are commercial right now. At the Technical Forum, we will also present up-and-coming technologies that may be game changing for our industry, including an invisible barcode that could easily solve many sortation challenges.

The 2020 APR Plastics Recycling Innovators will be announced on Monday, February 17 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee in conjunction with the Plastics Recycling Conference and Trade Show. A unique innovation in communications will be presented at the Getting the Word Out conference panel on Wednesday, February 19.

Recipients will present their innovations at the Technical Forum. During the Recycling Showcase, you can meet the recipients at the APR Exhibit Booth (Booth 1026), where samples and literature will be displayed.

Last year’s innovators include Circular Polymers’ polymers from carpet recycled with the rotary impact separator; SKC’s washable ink shrink sleeve on Colgate’s Palmolive Oxy dishwash bottles, MCC’s deseaming shrink sleeve labels: Vitafusion™ MultiVites, and PolyOne’s SmartHeat RHC: the next generation reheat technology for PET bottles.

Please join us as we applaud the companies that are raising the bar for plastics recycling and package design this year. Note that the APR Technical Forum and Recycling Showcase is a separate event from the February APR member meeting. For entry, registration for the Plastics Recycling Conference is required.

As the Voice of Plastics Recycling®, APR is always looking to recognize innovations that have a positive impact on recyclability. We truly believe that this year’s Showcase entries are breaking new ground for plastics recycling – and we can’t wait to share them with you.

See you in Nashville!
